The painting begins - minis have arrived!

So today my order came in. And I am a happy, happy camper!

Of course that meant sorting ( LOT of sorting....) and deciding what to begin on. Thus with another 9 boxes on the way that weren't available when this was sent, I decided dwarves and elves would be up first.

Definitely looking forward to Caeasar's Dwarves for this project, these Alliance leave a little to be desired - they're more Viking, reasonable due to dwarven folklore inspiration, but this is due to their size not the sculpts which are very nice. A set of dwarves that appear to clearly employ a shield aren't provided with it, but I'll add the six needed shields soon enough....

The dwarves and elves undercoated as I start on what will be a project to be completed tomorrow, since sticking all those feathers in the Polish Cavalry that will be the Elven cavalry is definitely a job for another day. Tomorrow we look at a possible house....so who knows I might have my games room back soon!

Thanks for stopping by, thus the Warhammer/Fantasy/LotR 1/72 project is here and begun.....let's see how we go!

2nd Legion Sunshine Coast Wargame Club 2nd Birthday Game Day

Hello there
so I took another step in reconnecting with my gaming brethren by attending 2nd Legion's second birthday event at the Sunshine Coast University.
My friend Joseph was kind enough to give me a lift in so he could milk the WiFi to download Steam games, and not being a big videogamer myself I threw myself in the rooms of miniatures and strange unknown friends and started approaching tables as one does in such circumstances til a friendly hand invites one over for a game or introduces themselves.

First table I landed on was attended by a nice trio of fellows battling it out over one of the participants' home built terrain. Some great shots of a Mordheim battle going on (great to see Specialist Games still alive and well!)
May put a warband together and attend a game or two...I have the minis after all!

I saw Arena Rex played and it looks amazing!

Sci-fi/Infinity/Warhammer 30k table.......stunning piece of terrain........

30k Guard!

After long I took a liking to this mat and its Muskets and Tomahawk game

Raffle went really well....didn't win anything, but atmosphere was wonderful

First game of M&T I was granted control of the right flank of two Provincial units and a central Scoutish unit (Rangers?)

 Damn...no enfilade!

Stunning Arena Rex miniature!

Deadzone table I didn't get around to playing on........bucket list!

Lots of wonderful folk and varied, fun games going on

And of course a wear of the Legion's sacred headpiece

Final draw, thanks to participants for supporting the club (I'll like to make it a regular monthly if not fortnightly meet, though tending to monthly at the moment), great crowd and a fun day

Not winning anything I did pick AoS up for $50 from a fellow who won quite a few prizes, this one in particular he had little use for.

Thanks 2nd Legion for the hospitality, I hope to see you all again soon!

Kickstarters I am backing

Well then, since I started this blog might as well add some content I suppose.
Rather uneventful day work/family-wise as I smashed my commissions last week and last night night's US Paras kept me up to sunrise, so after a walk on the beach, splash in the pool and a few phone calls to mates and sundry I.....crashed out til late afternoon.

Kickstarter has produced some wonderful projects, some (to me...too many!) of which I have missed out due to poverty, commitments, poverty, travel, poverty....you get the picture.

Right now though the ones I am backing seem to be goers bar one.

In no specific order I am right now in stretch goal mode for

Folklore: The Affliction

Stretch goals have been pretty nifty as well thus far!

Second and now en route to my domain is

While the rules and track system per se don't really inspire me much the vehicles are a nice addition to have in my gaming cupboard for other games and/or the odd 6mm skirmish (I've even played Rules of Engagement at platoon level with single based 6mm soldiers and a company of armor apiece so not unlikely on the horizon given some of the amazing 6mm sci-fi/near-future minis out there...

I almost feel bad about this one - I backed it because it's Mantic, and almost offensively to other KSs I research thoroughly this one I just hopped on eyes closed. I'm sure the resulting system won't disappoint, and the miniature quality is beyond reproach in any of their projects.

And the best of my current backing projects I left for last - this game has me VERY intrigued indeed. Aside from the publisher's rep (CMON - Zombicide and McVey Studio anyone?!? Nuff said...), the overall contents really have me holding high hopes for this one, so much so here's a video as well:

So all in all some nifty content there arriving next year, while the real disappointment in my KS career still remain the 25th Ed Heroquest board game, a game in limbo so long it's a community joke....but one that put every backer out $200 or more so not at all happy with this one...who knows maybe one day it'll materialize...

Damn this should have been something of an epic.....so want it to come true!!
