Weekend toothache hobbying

This week and likely next I have been segregated home by this little bugger in the bottom left of the photo playing up and leading to a disproportionate intake of painkillers as I await an opening for surgery.

Not to sit idly though I concentrated on simple hobby actions I'd been putting off that don't require sitting for a long time or concentrating as painting or model detailing does.
I brought up from for garage felt I'd bought to improve my table and started chipping away at cutting this up.

I have made fields, swampland and forest tiles as well as a river section wide enough for most games and periods.

I'm also using my single bases WW2 figures to proxy development of my sabot base project which is proceeding well.

The FIW figures should be here soon enough to replace these for Sharpe Practice.
If anyone is ever interested in the files I am happy to share.

They suit any 200x200mm plate 3D printer, made in TinkerCAD and available singly, too, for smaller printers like my three Minis I'll have back online when the spares arrive from China.

So that's all that coming along as present.

Time for another ice cold drink and back under the snuggle covers to read as I await the next bout of growth of this tooth and brace for Tuesday to come around!
Sniffles....

10mm Soviet Decaling Test

In my last batch of Pendraken miniatures, Leon included some decal sheets for my WWII collection. The manufacturer is i94 from memory and over the last few years Pendraken has been acquiring different businesses in support of its ranges in the 1/144 space.
Among these are i94, Specialist Military Publishing (the Commander series of rules) and Italian medieval manufacturer TB line (more on this in the future I'm sure....)

Today I experimented with applying decals without using commercially available setting products to see how I like the look and if its worth the expense - so unless I find them on sale I think they won't be joining my arsenal as these decals set quite fine as is for my purpose.

Conan boardgame WIP

Buongiorno!
Another day another post....on another boardgame!

I backed the original Conan kickstarter but due to life circumstance this was then lost somewhere in the ethereum of international shipping (ie I believe it was sent to an address I no longer resided at which was a rental et al....at a time in my life I wasn't in a position to chase it up).

Thus when the dust settled from the carnage that was my life at that stage I embarked on a "redemption" of sorts to purchase another copy of the KS bundle and found one on the BGG marketplace. Couple negotiating emails later it was in my hands and painting began..
I also included in this set miniatures from other games that survived my various travels and moves and I believe these are either Bones or Zombicide figures....

I chose to paint the hyenas as infernal hounds as they will be useful in other iterations down the track and serve me better than plain hyenas might in RPGs....

The big man himself (or an iteration of him, anyway...there are several in the boxed set)

HeroQuest 3D

My first 3D printing project was to design and print a board to this amazing game in 3D

If you do not know what HeroQuest is - this gentleman offers a great overview of it!

I began by painting the miniatures for it and adding some special ones. This was originally inspired by the 25th Anniversay HeroQuest release (though this is scheduled to be released for the 30th or 35th anniversary way things are going...) by Spanish manufacturer and game designer Gamezone Miniatures

The final board

This was achieved after a LOT of this

The first step was to paint the Heroes

Then I did up all the monsters in the set, purchasing ones I'd lost in various moves on eBay to complete my collection

I have quite a few boardgames I'd like to spruce up with 3D printing over time

We celebrated the welcoming of 2018 playing Heroquest and it was a wonderful evening of friendship, food and DEAAAAAAAATH!

This was followed up over the following months with the addition of more 3D printed miniatures, furnishing and miniatures from various boardgames and Reaper's excellent "Bones Miniatures" in particular.

That's the first update then to my blog since today's introductory posting.
Think I might dig into more old photos now and do the same for my progress on the Conan boardgame - you never know that might give me some inspiration to complete it, too!
